Sick Day

Today is a sick day, but thankfully I'm not horribly sick, just fighting a cold that 's going around. These are the best kind of sick days, when you can really enjoy them and make the most of spending the day doing nothing.

On sick days I make myself at home on the couch with my laptop, cozy pj's, some girly movies and a blanket. Before I get too comfortable I light the candles that are lined up on my window sills, and start a pot of tea (Throat Coat to start- my throat is on fire! Then peppermint tea for the rest of the morning).
Puffs Plus Lotion with the Scent of VicksNext to the couch I set up camp on the laptop tray: my teacup, a box of Puffs (the kind with lotion and vicks, what luxurious facial tissue!), a good mystery novel and cold medicine.
This is one of the few times when cold cereal is an appealing breakfast choice so I take advantage of the opportunity and pour myself a bowl(today it was yogurt berry crunch). I also make sure that I do my bible reading so I don't feel guilty reading my mystery novel later.  Then I open my laptop and add shoes to my ebay watch list that I can periodically check on throughout the day, and catch up on Fantasies For Sale (thanks to my newfound appreciation for dark stormy days I have realized that today is perfectly stormy, but much too bright for my taste. My candles have more than their fare share of competition)

when I feel like it I'll take a nap or two...does it get any more lovely?

  1. I most certainly love sick days too. But, I think that they were much better while still in school, where it didn't matter too much if you missed a few days.

  2. I have been able to relax and be sick for the past week, and it has been such a luxury. I think I learned to relax when I had my surgery this summer. Before that, I don't think I knew the meaning of the word "relax."

I have to add that I thoroughly enjoy your writing style. It is a pleasure to read your thoughts. Thanks for sharing them with me!
    Love you, Mom
